Dr. Edward Bolen has been the pastor of Milledge Avenue Baptist church since 1997. A Georgia native and a proud Auburn University graduate, Dr. Bolen received his Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Seminary in San Francisco and his Ph.D. (New Testament studies) from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Edward and Susan met on a committee at the Baptist Student Union and have been married since 1985. Susan is an Instructional Coach at Timothy Road Elementary School. They are the proud parents of two children, John and Zoe. Edward enjoys a wide variety of missions opportunities, volunteering with Boy Scouts, working in his yard, or relaxing with a good book.
Kristy L. Bay, Associate Pastor of Youth and Education
Formerly Kristy Eggert, Kristy just got married to the love of her life Zach Bay (hence the name change)! Kristy finished her Master of Divinity degree at McAfee School of Theology! She also holds two Bachelors degrees from Belmont University in Nashville, TN. Kristy loves all things related to music and French… as those were her majors in undergrad. Kristy loves to read, loves coffee, and loves to laugh. She loves telling stories and many of her life experiences provide the material! She is a firm believer in learning to laugh at oneself. Kristy’s favorite aspect of youth ministry is forming relationships with the students. She says, "I love being a part of a student's journey of faith. It is always nice to be reminded of the fact that you are not alone in this process of spiritual formation and transformation!" Kristy joined the staff of Milledge Avenue Baptist Church in February 2011.
Christy is a carolina girl who grew up in Gaffney, SC. Christy has served as the Administrative Director of Crossroads Worldwide Ministries in Shelby, NC, the children's minister a Calvary Baptist Church in Waco, TX and as the Missions Project Planner at Baylor University. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education at Gardener-Webb University and her Master of Divinity at Baylor University. She and her husband, Larry Correll-Hughes met at Baylor and married in May of 2006. Their son, Books was born in March of 2008 and her daughter Lucy was born in February 2011. In any spare time, you might find Christy cooking up something yummy or sewing up something pretty. Christy also enjoys writing her mommy blogand hunting for bargains.
Carey Huddlestun currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife, Denise. Carey has most recently served as Minister of Music of Briarcliff Baptist Church in Atlanta. Denise is a School Improvement Specialist with Metro RESA. They have a son, John, age 27, a Samford University graduate in Musical Theater , who lives in Seattle, Washington.
Carey says of his choral experience, One of my greatest enjoyments is found in choral conducting and working with choirs of all ages. I have much experience in this area and continue to seek opportunities to grow as a choral conductor and choral musician.
Carrie Juarez, our Church Secretary, came to MABC in February 2012. Carrie has an Associates Degree in Management Studies from the University of Maryland. She has a daughter who loves to draw and text her friends. Carrie loves to read and watch movies in her spare time.
Richard Lindsey came to MABC in December of 2009. He is married to Pam and they have 4 children and 1 grandson. Richard is a former sheriff’s deputy for Clarke County. He is also an avid youth and high school sports fan.
Karen Byrd, Organist
Karen Byrd is the organist at Milledge Avenue Baptist Church. She has her piano performance degree from Georgia Southern University and studied organ with church musician and organist Don Hustad. Karen also accompanies the Sanctuary Choir.
Karen is married to Nathan Byrd and is the mother of three beautiful children. She currently teaches full-time in the Walton County School System.
