Children's Ministry

At Milledge Avenue Baptist Church we believe that the family is the center of faith development and spiritual formation for children and youth.

Relationships

We want our students to learn from a church FAMILY so we do our best to provide multigenerational leaders and volunteers for our student ministry programs where children, youth, and their families can develop relationships with many different members of our church family.

Age Appropriate

We want students to learn about the love of God in ways they understand. We provide curriculum and learning environments that foster age-appropriate learning.

Safety

Families can trust that their children are cared for by workers and volunteers that have been background checked and screened. Pager systems are in place in the nursery for parent's peace of mind.

Creative and Fun

When students have fun and positive learning experiences at church they want to come back!

Christ Centered

In everything we do, we want children to learn about the love of God and to ultimately become Christ followers. We never sacrifice the truth of scripture for fun or entertainment.

Nursery

We offer nursery for birth to 5 years of age on Sunday mornings. Our nursery is located on the 1st floor of the Kinney Children's Building. It is staffed with wonderful, caring, volunteers as well as paid staff who will take care of your children. We assign families a pager in case you are needed. You must present your pager at the end of the service to pick up your child.

K - 5th Grades

Our children are a part of the Body of Christ and are an important part of worship. They have gifts of worship to offer as do adults. There are many ways in which children engage in worship:

Children's Sunday School

We currently use the Deep Blue Bible curriculum from Cokesbury. Preschool children attend class on the 1st floor of the Kinney Children's Building. Children in grades K-5th have class on the 2nd floor of the Kinney Children's Building.

Sunday School begins at 10am but teachers are available at 9:45am for student drop off. This allows time for parents to join their class at 10am.

Children in Worship and Children's Church

Parents are encouraged to take children ages three and older to worship. The worship service includes a children's sermon, after which those in 5th grade or younger can leave for Children's Church or they can stay and worship with the family.

Children are welcome to attend Children's Church just after the children's sermon. An adult will be in the back of the sanctuary to walk your child up to the 2nd floor of the Kinney Children's Building for a lesson. If your child is not fully potty trained, please sign them into the nursery where they will have their own lesson.

If you prefer your child to remain in worship with you, we offer several activities to keep them engaged. You will find bins with coloring sheets and various games to keep them occupied as they witness church.
