Grace and Peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ in these turbulent days!
This is a great time of uncertainty, not only here at home, but around the world as well. As leaders of the church, our calling is to love and serve the Lord, our congregation, and our community the best way we can. We take this responsibility seriously and consider it a holy privilege. The ministers, chair of deacons, and chair of personnel, along with some members of the Transition Team met this morning and made some difficult decisions about Milledge Avenue Baptist Church in the coming weeks, based on requests from our Governor and recommendations from the Center for Disease Control. Read More
Virtual Worship

As we are asked to distance ourselves from each other physically, we will still come together virtually to worship. Please be safe and healthy and join us online each Sunday at 11am via Facebook.

See below for last Sunday's Worship Service.

Starting now, Milledge Avenue Baptist Church will be CLOSED through March 29.

This means

  • No Sunday School or worship services March 22 and March 29
  • No youth and children’s activities, including the Easter egg hunt on March 22 or 29
  • No Sanctuary choir rehearsal on March 18 or 25
  • No dinner and conversation with Jody Long on March 18
  • No church-wide luncheon on March 29
  • No Older Adult activities, including Just for Lunch
  • No in person meetings or socials of any kind

Furthermore, the church office will be closed during this time as well, which means

  • Church staff will work from home remotely
  • Church staff will use zoom to conduct meetings as needed
  • Mail and office phone messages will only be retrieved once daily
  • Per local healthcare officials, no visits to hospitals or retirement/nursing homes are allowed.
  • Carrie Hayes, office manager, is available only via email as needed.
  • All financial support/giving will need to be either given online or mailed to 1690 S Milledge Avenue, Athens, GA 30605

Even though there are many opportunities that will not happen, we plan to take opportunities during this social distancing time as well to

  • Reach out to one another often via phone calls
    • Ministers and deacons are available via phone call, text or email for any prayer requests or pastoral care needs you may have
    • Care for each other and check in with each other often during these weeks!
  • Create worship and study resources that will be emailed out
  • Create worship videos that will be filmed at the ministers’ homes, but then broadcast on Facebook and our church’s website

In the midst of the anxiety and turmoil, and as we draw nearer to Holy Week, let us not forget Jesus’ words even as He knew what would occur in His days ahead—“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.” (John 14:27)

May Jesus’ peace and God’s comfort and grace surround us all.
